Instructor-led Training
Project Description
ENGIE Insight acquired an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) data capture tool, eFlow, to replace the outdated data entry software. Before rolling out the new system company-wide, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) was conducted in a pre-production environment. I performed usability testing to pinpoint any potential performance issues and adoption hurdles. To ensure a seamless implementation, I selected an instructor-led training course as the solution. The reason for this approach was the sophisticated nature of the new software, which required employees to acquire new skills. Additionally, new hires also underwent the training course upon joining the company.
My Role
As the Instructional Designer, my primary responsibility was to collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to translate project requirements into performance-oriented goals. I assisted in planning and defining the scope of the project, securing the necessary resources to implement, evaluate, and sustain the solution. Additionally, I led the course pilots in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) and the primary trainer to ensure that course content aligned with business processes.
I was instrumental in driving continuous improvements and enhancements to eFlow, including participating in the pilot phase of a new type of computer mouse aimed at boosting productivity.
I was also responsible for designing course materials such as the Master Manual, job aids, PowerPoint presentations, and reference materials. Regular updates to these assets were required to reflect any business updates, which occurred at least once a month.
Outcomes
Key outcomes achieved from this project include:
Performance Alignment: participants' performance aligned with business objectives, resulting in an average of 13+ bills processed per hour by the end of the course.
Business Integration: course content tailored to reflect real-life business practices.
Measurable Results: ongoing evaluation of participant reactions, learning, and behavior to ensure bottom-line results were achieved.
Master Manual
The purpose of this manual is to serve as a comprehensive guide for instructors to effectively deliver the course. It includes performance objectives, a detailed overview of the delivery environment, pre- and post-course checklists, needs assessment documentation, and evaluation strategies.Â
The manual is available for download in PDF format and can be easily accessed through a separate tab.
